Carl Wolf, operator of a large farm, son of the late Friedrich Wolf and Caroline Lewant, daughter of the late Gotthard Lewant, a shoemaker, both of Grunwalde, East Prussia were married on the 28 October 1866 in the Evangelical Church of Landsberg, East Prussia.
Karl, Carolina, and their three young daughters, Louisa, Minna, and Carolina (aka Lena) sailed from Germany via Liverpool, London on the S.S. City of Chester and arrived in New York on 15 June 1874.
They settled in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA where their other nine children, Augusta, Ernestine Wilhelmine, Anna, Carl August, William Julius, Herrmann Albert, Emma Mathilde, Edward Gustav and Adolph Carl Friedrich were born.
